David A. Stevens
Attorney David Stevens was born and raised in Macon, Georgia. He moved to Atlanta in 1991 and graduated from the Georgia State University College of Law in 2002. During law school, he was active in both the Moot Court Board - serving as Vice President of Appellate Advocacy - and mock trial, participating in several national competitions. He received awards for his academic performance in Research, Writing and Advocacy and Litigation classes.
After graduating from law school, David immediately began assisting people against the complicated and powerful interests of the government, large corporations and insurance companies. During his early years in practice he was lead counsel in over a dozen jury trials, he wrote and argued dozens of successful pre-trial motions, and obtained favorable results for hundreds of clients while developing his skills as a litigator. In 2005, he began his practice representing disabled people in claims for benefits, ultimately forming McElreath & Stevens, LLC in 2007 with his mother, Jane McElreath, who had been representing disabled applicants for Social Security benefits for over 30 years. Since that time, they have successfully assisted
well over a thousand individuals
in obtaining their Social Security disability benefits.
Since that time, he has also received certification from the VA to represent veterans with service-connected disability claims.
David has been a member of the State Bar of Georgia since 2002 and is licensed to practice in the Georgia Court of Appeals, the Supreme Court of Georgia and the United States Northern District Court. He is accredited to represent veterans in disability claims by the Department of Veterans Affairs and is a member of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, the National Organization of Social Security Claimants' Representatives, the Atlanta Bar Association and the Dekalb Bar Association.
